INFORMATION

My process begins with commercially produced fabrics.  Most of these are cottons, although I work with silk and other natural fibers as well as blends.  I begin by applying or taking out (discharging) color by many methods, including the Shibori techniques of folding, wrapping and tying, as well as drawing and spraying directly onto the fabric with procion dyes.  This process is repeated multiple times until I deem a fabric complete.

After pieces of these manipulated fabrics are cut and sewn together, the process of quilting begins.  This adds both texture and line to the composition, compelling the pieces to “speak” to each other and thus complete the composition.

Care and display of fiber art:  Most fabric will fade over time and therefore should not be placed in direct sunlight.  All of my pieces can be framed or displayed without frames.  The larger pieces are hung by a rod which is inserted into a pocket on the top back of the piece.  Some pieces are best hung with rods at both bottom and top.

SALES

If there is a price listed, the piece is for sale.  If you wish to purchase a piece, contact me via email.  I will check to make sure that the piece you have chosen is available--not on loan to a gallery--and will email you an invoice, payable through Pay Pal.  (You do not need an account at Pay Pal to make a payment.)  Sales tax and shipping costs will be included on the invoice.  Pieces that are in-house will be shipped via Fed Ex within ten days.
